Bradley Edwin Guzan better known as Brad Guzan is a professional football goal keeper, born on September 9, 1984 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, United States. Brad Guzan is a descendant of polish American ancestry and his parents are Richard and Karen Guzan. In 2003, he graduated from Catholic High School located in Illinois. On the field and to his close ones he is known by his nickname “El Guzano”.
Brad Guzan represented the Under-18 United States national team, during the early days of his sporting career. He made his debut for the senior national team in a game against Guatemala on February 19, 2006. On November 7, 2007, Brad Guzan was named as the ‘Major League Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year’.
Brad Guzan began his football career, when he played for the Chicago Magic Soccer Club and he also played for the varsity soccer team at Providence Catholic High School in Illinois. After graduating from this school, he played two seasons of college football at the University of South Carolina. He had an impressive first season with the South Carolina varsity team by starting all 18 matches. He finished the season with a 0.96 goals against average that was aided by eight shutouts. After this successful season, he was named to College Soccer News’ All-Freshman team and was also one of the two freshmen named to the NSCAA All-South team. During his play with the South Carolina varsity, he recorded a total of 69 saves and finished with a 9-7-2 record.
After two successful seasons with the Chicago Fire Reserves in the USL Premier Development League, Brad Guzan dropped out of college and signed a Generation adidas contract with the Major League Soccer. As of 2008, Brad Guzan is the goalkeeper for Aston Villa of the English Premier League.
